Ipswich were a lot better than Villa but the main difference was our lack of ball retention and movement in midfield. If you're going to play a quick passing game then everyone needs to be able to do it, particularly in midfield.
For all his faults, and I do think we need an upgrade, Noble is a good footballer. Despite other qualities he has, Kouyate isn't. The difference when Noble came on was immediate and pronounced. I think we still need to strengthen considerably in the middle.

I've always rated Adrian, good keeper and genuinely wears his heart on his sleeve,which nowadays is a rare thing.

I agree Lily, we looked much better against Villa
However, I think Ipswich were also better than Villa, but difficult to say, to be fair both Villa and Ipswich played some nice passing football as well, good tests, but not Liverpool

Wilshere and Anderson made a big difference going off.
Villa match was our best showing with Wilshere, Noble and Rice in midfield. That’s our best bet for now.

First half was better...probably due to more creativity from Anderson...
Satisfied overall...saw video live...but not able to identify all new players as no names on shirts...
Good to see very little hoofing from the back...

Rice and Noble made Us look a darn sight better than Kouyate and Obiang. They couldn’t pass wind as a pair.
I will bore on again. We need a real upgrade on Kouyate and to a lesser extent Obiang in our squad if we are to average avoid conceding heavily again this season. I pray Pellegrini becomes the first manager in 5 ( was it Pardew who got Behrami in ? )
We need a strong pacey but technically excellent man to provide protection or we will not see the improvement in points tally that the new attaching additions and defenders should bring Imho
We continue to struggle as we did today when teams press us and play between the lines between our midfield and defence

I actually preferred how we played in the 1st half and thought we looked poor going forward in the 2nd. Maybe Rice and Noble were better, I’m not sure, but Wilshere going off and other changes up field for me made a weaker team. Have to say, I had little idea who was who in the 2nd half! I just could not see well enough.

Balbeuna looks poor so far. Rice was brilliant when he came on. Arnie could score 20+ this season with Hernandez getting pissed on the bench.

My take on the team today:
Fabianski, going to be first choice no doubt
Freds, first choice right back
General, ahead of Diop in starting v Liverpool
Ogbonna, first choice CB as plays left of two
Masuaku, ahead of the mirage that is Cresswell
Obiang, keep as backup unless we can get someone better?
Kouyate, sell
Wilshere, great baller
Anderson, good vision will need to toughen up
Yarmolenko, great technique
Arnie, the King
Swap Obiang and Kouyate for Noble and Rice for Liverpool, start the rest
Sell Kouyate and replace Obiang if that player is a better DM
Bench: Adrian, Diop, Zab, Obiang, Antonio, Pea and Cresswell (who?)

I've watched either live or on a stream our last 4 games and given that we are playing teams who's desire is to press, as we know that's how the championship is, we are having to move the ball quicker than is usual in the PL.
That can only be a good thing. My own observations. Wilshire if kept fit brings us to a whole new level, his dropping off when required and stepping up are just class, every time he creates space. I really like Yarms and Fredrick's, not sure on Balbuana yet and Anderson just needs time. Totally agree on Rice and Arnie. Both look ready now. Diop is growing on me his timing and strength improving every game. Ogbonna without the clowns around him looks like the player we thought we had bought years ago. Sorry about the spellings on the train back.

Thought their number 10, Harrison I think, looked useful, nice inter play and dropping between the lines
Balbuena is a beast with the ball coming toward him, vulnerable when it is slid past him, has the appearance of a good fist man in a three, will need to get to grip with the pace of the league quickly
Rice was different class, composed, physical, read the game well, neat in distribution and always showing for the ball, created the space for Noble to play into

Lily- Yeah, he looks a lot more solid but can't really see him in the PL. Shame as I liked the lad.

It was a fine day out in the sun and as usual we were in fine voice!
I don't know whether it was apparent on the stream but it was fuckin windy and a lot of balls were going astray. Haksabanovic looked good fro. Where I was sitting and it was good to see Wilshire knocking the ball about, looking as if he had all the time in the world.
